Passion helped her break the stereotype, hard work helped her overcome the prejudice
Melissa, our founder, stands as a rare female presence in Singapore’s predominantly male commercial diving industry. With over a decade of experience in the events sector, she sought a change of scenery, eventually finding her passion beneath the waves. Following a brief training course alongside fellow divers, Melissa took the literal plunge into the challenging world of commercial diving.
Reflecting on her experiences, Melissa notes, “The jobs will challenge you both physically and mentally. Critical thinking is required all the time due to the dynamic environment experience in every dive. Even though we conduct toolbox meetings and pre-dive checks before every dive, the situation can change very quickly in the water and this results in many uncertainties we are required to react to.”
Since venturing into commercial diving, Melissa has defied skeptics through unwavering determination, integrity, and her genuine love for the craft, proving her mettle in the face of the toughest challenges.

In a spirited celebration of our company’s remarkable first year back in 2023, the Hydro Marine Solutions team embarked on an exhilarating retreat for the weekend where we unleashed our adventurous spirit with heart-pounding sessions of go-karting, ATV adventures and paintball showdowns.
The tracks witnessed laughter, camaraderie and the unmistakable spirit of teamwork as we raced through our milestones with unbridled enthusiasm.
